IS ALL NOW WELL?

SINCE WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A CHANGE IN THE WHITE HOUSE, AND IN FEDERAL ADMINISTRATIVE POLITICS, DOES THAT MEAN ALL IS WELL WITH THE USA?

At the risk of being called a gloom spreader, I, who believe from reading about God’s past dealings with mankind, as well as considering past secular history, submit that all is not well.  As a country, we are more religious than ever, with our various churches, mosques, synagogues, temples, and the like; but we have moved farther and farther away from God as He is revealed in His Holy Word.

As a proponent of Monergism (The Christian belief that the Holy Spirit is the only agent that effects regeneration in humankind), I firmly believe, as I study the news of happenings in the USA at the present time, that spiritual revival is the only thing that will allay what seems to be the inevitable judgement of Almighty God on our country.  We are, I believe (recent political changes to the contrary notwithstanding) headed for an economic collapse,  total anarchy, eventual martial law, and dictatorship in the USA.

When this happens, it will pave the way for one world government, and the rise of the “Man of Sin” spoken of in Scripture.  That will lead to the most terrible time the  earth has ever experienced, and ever will experience.  If you doubt what I’m suggesting here, get your Bible out, get a good concordance, and read about these things.  Then think about the happenings in terms of atrocities, and tragedies, in our times, and, if you sensibly can, tell me I’m off base.  I don’t think you can realistically do that.  Therefore, if you’re not already a Christian:  That is, one saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, believe in Him, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior today.  He alone can save you and deliver you from what is coming upon the world.  If your heart tells you this is so, and you want to come to Him  through faith,  it is because the Holy Spirit has drawn you by God’s irresistible grace.  May God send us a revival today, beginning with you and me!

IS ALL NOW WELL?

DONALD WINS! WHAT NOW!

DONALD TRUMP IS THE PRESIDENT ELECT OF THE USA, WHAT NOW MUST WE WHO ARE CHRISTIANS DO?

Will Donald Trump, and the Republican Party, who will have majorities in both the House and the Senate, bring prosperity, morality, and righteousness, to the United States of America?

Most US citizens would say, “Who cares about morals and righteousness.  We’ll take prosperity!”  That means it’s up to Christians to be concerned that the USA is a moral and righteous nation.  It was a desire for morality and righteousness that engendered the notion of freedom and equal opportunity, that led to our Declaration of Independence and Constitution at the beginning of our republic.  It will be morality and righteousness that will stay God’s hand in regard to the wrathful judgment of the United States, at this time.  Does the defeat of Hillary Clinton mean that God is giving us a second chance?  Perhaps, but not definitively so!  It means that along with the stay of execution that we have received regarding the wreck of our country by Socialism/Communism, we still must have a spiritual renewal in order to be a country that honors God in its relationships with the nations of the world.  Then, and only then, can we sensibly expect the blessing of God upon our nation.  Does God’s blessing mean freedom from war, and hatred, and suffering?  No it doesn’t.  We will be hated more by a wicked world system if we are righteous.

There have been spiritual awakenings in the history of our country, led by such men as George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards that pointed our country, at its inception, in the right direction.  It will only be a spiritual awakening that consists of an enormous turning to Jesus Christ, that will save the United States of America now.  Therefore I, who am nothing but a peon in regard to social status and formal education, urge you:  “Today if you will hear his voice,” (Hebrews 3:7) come in faith to Jesus Christ!  If you are a church member, stir your church up.  If you are not, find a Bible believing church and become involved in the “Ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 17-21).  Let us become a Theocratic nation, ruled by the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Word of God.  Everything else imaginable has been tried, and has failed.  “Come, let us reason together” concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.  Once again, I say – nothing else will suffice!

DONALD WINS! WHAT NOW!

LET’S TRY IT! WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOSE? CERTAINLY NOT OUR SOULS!

Hey!  All you fellow Christians who believe the Bible is true; Who believe that God is real, and is active in the affairs of mankind; who believe that Jesus saves; who believe that Jesus Christ is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords:  Let’s secede from the status quo Government of the United States of America, and live under the Theocracy of Almighty God:  The Father; the Son; and the Holy Spirit!

Now I’m not advocating that we become disobedient to the Government of the USA literally. What I’m advocating is that we realize as Jesus said in John 17, that though we are “in the world; we are not of the world,” and conduct the affairs of our lives accordingly.  It is still incumbent on us, that we obey the civil government, insofar as it does not conflict with God’s commands in the Bible.

What indeed do we have to lose?  We most certainly have everything to gain eternally.  Is it possible to do this?  Yes it is!  “With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).”  In fact, if we are to do our utmost to help our county, this is what we must do.  This is literally and truly in keeping with 2 Chronicles 7:14, and is absolutely our only viable action as Christians.  Think of it:  Has the fiasco that has become our “normal” election process produced anything that is going to help our country?  Is there anything presently extant that offers any hope?  The answer to those questions is a resounding NO!

Do we need to form yet another organization to become corrupted and fall by the wayside?  NO WE DO NOT!  We need to, each of us, commit our way to the Lord Jesus Christ, read His Holy Word prayerfully, and resolve in our hearts to follow Him, whatever persecution or suffering may come to us.  We will do so knowing this:  That the Sovereign God will conquer in the end; and that we will be “More than conquerors through him who loves us (Romans 8:37).”  This is what revival entails.  It’s what we need and nothing else will suffice.

If we will do this, it will scare the geewillikers out of the haters of freedom.  It will be the biggest blow imaginable to the proponents of One World Government, whose ultimate goal is martial law, and total control of the world’s populace.  LET’S TRY IT!  WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE, AND EVERYTHING TO GAIN!

YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER

HEBREWS 13:8 “JESUS CHRIST, THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER!”

If that is so, as it is declared to be in the Word of God, then why have the churches changed over the years: and I mean all of them?  Why are Christians afraid to go, as Christ said to go, into all the world?  Why are they hindered by opinions of unbelievers, by unfavorable governments, or by anyone or anything else?  I can only speak for myself; but the reason I don’t go out with the Gospel, is because I fear all of the above, more than I fear God.  O yes, there are missionaries today, some of them serving in dangerous places; but the church in general is quite content, it seems, to watch people die all around them.

You may well hear someone say, “Isn’t it a shame the way things are.  Why you can’t walk on the streets without getting mugged; you can’t leave home without getting burglarized; you can’t enter into a contract with someone without getting fleeced.”  Why is this?  Why, it’s because “men love darkness rather than light” (John 3:19) and the church has lost its zeal and its courage.  Many churches are steeped in false doctrine, unsupported by Scripture; but even those whose doctrine is as clear as ice, often seem to be just as cold as ice toward those outside the church.  We don’t hear the birth cries of new Christians, and we don’t care.  We talk about those who aren’t Christians like they’re only bad, rather than having compassion because they’re lost.

I’ve made a decision!  Instead of waiting for God to move me, I’m going to step out on faith, by God’s grace, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, boldly, as the apostles did.  When I see something wrong going on, I’m going to say it’s wrong.  When I see someone behaving in an unchristian way, I’m going to ask them if they know Jesus; and if not, would they like to.  Yes, you put yourself in jeopardy when you do this; but “what shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Matthew 16:26).”  “Must Jesus bear the cross alone, and all the world go free: No!  There’s a cross for everyone (and one for you and me)!” (George N. Allen)

YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER

JESUS! THE REAL FIXER-UPPER!

The world (not the earth; but the totally depraved, and corrupt world system), is looking for a savior.  Someone who will be the wisest (in their minds) most grand person who ever lived, to fix everything up.  If you look up anti-Christ, in your Bible’s concordance, and read everything about him; and if you read the O.T. book of Daniel, and the N.T. book of Revelation, you will see that such an one is definitely on his way.  He, in fact, may have already come into the world, and may be here now.  Or perhaps not yet.  We just don’t, and can’t know for sure.

But that the world is ripe for such a man (or beast), there’s no doubt.  Look at things with an objective eye.  Consider the interest in the occult, in witchcraft; and, the interest in bazaar things that go against everything God demands of His people, and commands us to do.  The world has never in its history, been in such an ungodly turmoil as it is today; and it’s getting worse day by day.  Yes, you can look back in history, and see terrible times, bloody times, from medieval times to the present time.  Genocides (Many, falsely in the name of Christ), holocausts, dictatorships, atrocities; and yet, these are nothing compared to what will transpire when the anti-Christ reigns on earth.  The irony is this:  The world will believe that the super political savior has come; and many will literally worship him.  In the end, the anti-Christ will be absolutely crushed by the Lord Jesus Christ, and “Jesus shall reign where e’er the sun, doth his successive journeys run (Isaac Watts).”

Meanwhile (back to present) what are we to do?  We are to do as Jesus tells His church to do in His Word.  We are to “Go into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15)”  Jesus said to His disciples, “As my Father hath sent me, so send I you (Luke 20:21.”  How did the Father send Jesus, and for what purpose?  Why, to “seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10).”  As well, we are to do all the good we can to our fellow humans, in the way of feeding the hungry; clothing the naked; healing the sick, and seeking liberty and justice for all, inasmuch as we are able; with compassion and kindness for all.  You see, Jesus is the real Fixer-Upper!  Let us not be of those who are looking for another!

With love in Christ for everyone, a sinner saved by grace,

JESUS! THE REAL FIXER-UPPER!

LOTS OF WIND! BUT NO RAIN!

I watched what is passed off for a presidential debate this evening.  I saw two people obviously in love with themselves in a most disturbing and inordinate way, blow off for approximately 1 and 1/2 hours, saying and accomplishing very little.

What disturbs me most, is that these two are running for the highest office in a land that has for its motto, “In God We Trust,” yet neither mentioned trusting in God.  Why is this?  Is it because they don’t trust in God?  Or is it that they don’t want to emphasize what the people no longer want to hear?  Or is it perhaps a little bit of both?

Is there anyone out there, who would run for president on the “Trust in God” ticket?  If so, please stand up.

It was emphasized by one of the candidates that our nation is in deep trouble; and only he knows how to fix things up.  The other emphasized that we were in worse trouble; but her party fixed things up already, and only she can keep it that way.  Frankly, I will vote; but am not happy with the choices we’re given.  Neither impresses me as a Godly person.

I would be thrilled to hear someone run for that office, and say, “I’m running for president, and I’m scared stiff.  I have no absolute answers and solutions for the problems that confront this nation; but I will trust in God, and I beg for your prayers.”

In all of this, I’m glad to know that we have a God who works all things out according to His own will, and that, He it is, who rules in the affairs of mankind.  Does that mean I’m advocating us not doing all we can, and, in fact,  our utmost?  Absolutely not!  We should work as if it all depends on us; but pray as if it all depends on God; because it really does.

With love in Christ for all, from a sinner saved by grace,

Bill

LOTS OF WIND! BUT NO RAIN!

ONE DAY NEARER!

When is Jesus coming?  No one knows; but He is one day nearer to coming than He was yesterday.  Is that not so?

Today we may hear His voice, and the sound of the trumpet, and may see Him descending in clouds to the earth, as it says in the Scripture.  The question for me is:  Am I ready?  The question for every one of you is the same.  Are you ready to meet the Son of God?

To be ready to meet Him as one who belongs to Him, you must come to God the Father in repentance, and to the Lord Jesus Christ by faith (Acts 20:21).  Can you do that?  Of course you can:  Simply believe in Him.  Throw away; cast off; set aside any notions of science falsely so called, and call on Him to save you.  The world, which is in the grasp of Satan, will tell you that you are unscientific, nonintellectual, and every other negative thing they can possibly think up, to keep you from believing in Jesus.

I’ve been told that those who are anxiously waiting for the second coming of Christ, are hoping that He will fix things on earth.  That’s not so, and misses the point by many miles.  Jesus isn’t coming to “fix” the mess the world is in.  He’s coming for His own, the saved, the redeemed; those that He purchased with His own blood (Ephesians 1:1-12).  In light of that, is it foolish to be longing for His return?  Of course not; rather, we are to look for His return with hope and expectancy!

So, I urge you, even as I remind myself:  be faithful, be diligent, be ready!  For in such a time that you think not, He will come!

With love, from a sinner saved by grace,

Bill

ONE DAY NEARER!

In the Beginning – God!

There are three places in the Bible where it speaks, specifically, of the Beginning.  In all three of these Scriptures, it also speaks of Light; identifies the Light; and speaks to the significance of the Light for those who are in Christ Jesus; and those who will, drawn by irresistible grace, eventually express belief in Him.  Since my main purpose is evangelism, I thought it might be good and useful to write a short account of these particular Scriptures, in regard to their value when witnessing to people.

Scripture references from the King James Version:  Scripture in italics.

Genesis 1:1-5  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.  And the evening and the morning were the first day.

John 1:1-5  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.  In him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

1 John 1:1-5  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled of the Word of life;  (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life , which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father,  and with his Son Jesus Christ.  And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.  This then is the message that we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF LIGHT

God is Light!  He is the Luminary that brings understanding and reason to all things, both good and bad.  The light in Genesis 1 is not the Luminary of God spoken of in John 1 and 1 John 1.  Rather, it is the light of the sun which God spoke into existence; the presence of which illumines the day; and the absence of which causes night.  Humankind, in our fallen state because of the sin of Adam, tend to do most evil things, such as murder, and theft, and sexual immorality, in the absence of daylight, under the (supposed) cover of darkness.

Jesus Christ is the Life that is the Light of men.  He lights (Gives life to) everyone who comes into the world (John 1:9).  Every one of us needs to study everything that the Bible says about Jesus; and everything that He says in his teaching of the disciples, and the multitudes, not only for our own edification; but in order to be effective in our teaching (disciplining) of others.

THE TESTIMONY OF THE APOSTLES

These are the fellows that knew Jesus in the flesh!  They had heard Him!  They had touched Him!  John’s testimony is that they (the apostles) touched the Word of Life.  How could John possibly be more explicit?   Read how John puts it for us in 1 John 1:1: (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.  And we write these things unto you, that your joy may be full.  This then is the message we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

JESUS’ DISCOURSE ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF LIGHT

(John 3:14-21)  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up:  that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  He that believeth in him is not condemned:  but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

A SUMMARY OF WHAT WE’VE LEARNED

Light and life come from our Creator, Jesus Christ (John 1:3,4)!  If we would be saved, and become partakers of the Light and Life that is our Lord Jesus Christ, we must, believe in Him, come to Him, and call on Him to save us!  God the Father’s eternal purpose, is to save all who come in repentance to Him;  and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, by grace through faith.

From a sinner saved by God’s irresistible grace,

In the Beginning – God!

LOVE NEVER FAILS!

(1 CORINTHIANS 13:8a) “LOVE NEVER FAILS!”

How can we say, with any semblance of logic and truth, that “Love never fails?”  You may say, “Well, it says that in God’s Word, and therefore, it must be so.”  Now, that may be enough for souls already in Christ; but, for those who don’t yet know Him, some defining of words, and further explanation is necessary.

E. g., it’s necessary to know, that in the Koine Greek language, the language in which the New Testament of God’s Word was originally written, that there are three words that are all translated “love” (There are actually more, but they aren’t necessary for us to consider at this time).  They are: “Agape,” the love with which God loves His children, and the love with which Christians love their fellow humans; “Phileo,” the love with which humans love others who are like them (Brotherly love); and “Eros,” the erotic and superficial love that involves sexual immorality, including adultery.  The “Love that never fails” is “Agape,” the love with which God loves His children, and the love with which God’s children love others.

Agape is, for all of my intent and purpose, an action word.  It is, by way of definition, a word that means giving people what they need, but not necessarily what they want.  That’s how God loves His children;  He gives us what we need, but not always what we want; because we are prone to want what isn’t good for us.  It follows then, that the people who belong to God, and emulate His example, will do as He does:  Giving the Gospel to the lost; food to the hungry; clothing to the naked; shelter to the homeless; medical help to the sick; and prayers for all people, that they will be blessed by the True and Living God.  If we, as a Godly people do this, we will be fulfilling God’s command, to “Love our neighbors as ourselves.”

You may ask:  “Where does emotional feeling come into play in your definition of love?”  I will answer you in this way:  Give yourself over into God’s hands by receiving Christ, believing in Him as Lord and Savior, and you will see.  He will give you a love for people, and compassion for others, that you didn’t realize you could have.  That’s where emotion comes into play.  The emotion that is from God to the believer’s heart; with an indefatigable desire to do what is best for anyone at all times.

To sum this all up:  Love never fails, if it’s the love that Jesus loves His own with, and subsequently, the love with which we, Christ’s own, love others.  May we live this way for His sake.

As ever, with love from a sinner saved by grace,

Bill

LOVE NEVER FAILS!

Misguided? Or totally depraved?

We had a discussion in our Sunday School Class yesterday (7/31/16).  We discussed the atrocity of three hoodlums entering a Catholic Church and killing an 86 year old priest by slitting his throat.  The reaction of the Catholic Church was that we should pray for “Misguided Souls.”  I believe that to merely say that these people are “misguided souls” is to miss the mark by a wide margin.

That they are misguided, there is little doubt; but that doesn’t come near to the term “totally depraved,” which is the definition most Christian thinkers give to the description that the Apostle Paul (by inspiration of the Holy Spirit) gives to the human condition in Romans 3:9-20.  “What is wrong with someone who would do such a terrible thing,” we well may ask?  Why, they are lost souls, not merely misguided; and to define them as “misguided” is to miss the mark considerably.

What is my purpose in making this distinction?  It is this:  Let us define things as God defines them in His Holy Word!  Let us realize that we need to get back to Biblical thinking, and stop trying to be wiser than God.  Let us realize that apart from reconciliation to God through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross that mankind is undone!  We are a people of unclean lips, and we all dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips.  Without Jesus Christ, we are no better than savage beasts, as is evidenced in the killing of that elderly priest, and the many others who are murdered every day.  Yes, those who are in the clutch of Satan are undoubtedly “misguided;” but it goes far beyond that.  They are without Christ! They don’t believe in Him, and love the darkness rather than the light.

So let’s stop attempting to be politically correct in our definitions!  Let’s get back to thinking, living, and speaking Biblically!  People may be misguided in many things; but when they do murder, it’s because they are without Christ, reprobate, and children of the Devil.  Read the New Testament!  Jesus Christ has defined these things for us in His teaching.  We do Him an injustice  when we try to be wiser than He!

As ever, with love from a sinner saved by grace,

Bill
